Richard Martin, M.D. has been practicing orthopaedic surgery since 1985. He received his undergraduate degree in 1980, and medical degree in 1984, both from the University of Illinois. He completed his orthopaedic surgical training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 1989. Dr. Martin was selected to be the Chief Resident in his final year of residency in 1989. Dr. Martin has received specialized training in total joint replacement surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Following Dr. Martin's residency, he was honored with a Sports Medicine Fellowship with Dr. J.R. Steadman of the world renown Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. Dr. Martin is a former team physician for the Arizona Diamondbacks professional baseball team. He also serves as the medical director for the Lincoln Institute for Sports Medicine. Dr. Martin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Orthopaedic Surgical Network of Arizona and serves as team physician for several area schools.

Dr. Martin is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Western Orthopaedic Association and Orthopaedic Surgeons Network of Arizona. He is a published author and speaker on topics in orthopaedics. Dr. Martin's scope of practice includes sports medicine, fracture care, joint replacement and arthroscopy surgery. Current research projects include evaluation and prevention of golf injuries.
